Summer@OxBridge

This programme aims to encourage students to attend one of the below programmes hosted by the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford.

  • All full-time PolyU undergraduate students in UGC-funded programmes, except final-year students, in any faculty/school are welcome.
  • Students who have been on any global student exchange programmes are also eligible to apply, but priority will be given to students who have not participated in a global exchange programme.
  • Students who expect to receive a summer exchange offer in the same year should not apply.
  • The subsidy for this programme is limited and will be awarded through a competitive selection process. Recipients will be chosen based on the overall quality of their applications.

 

Summer Abroad Subsidy

Eligibility

  • Min. CGPA 3.50 as of Semester 1, 2025/26.
  • Successful applicant to one of the OxBridge programmes with an application confirmation issued by the Cambridge or Oxford.
  • Submitted a complete application for the Subsidy by deadline.

Allocation

  • Allocation of the Subsidy will be based on the latest CGPA (as of Semester 1, 2025/26) and personal statement.
  • Approved Subsidy will be transferred to the student's bank account as per record of Student Account Enquiry of PolyU Finance Office.
  • The Subsidy will be clawed back if the student fails to complete the programme and transfer credit(s) back to PolyU.

    1. Apply online for one of the Summer@OxBridge programmes by submitting a complete application to the programme provider directly. Save proof of your COMPLETED application in PDF format.

    2. Complete the Online Application for Summer Abroad Subsidy (Summer@OxBridge). The required supporting documents include:

    a. Proof of your COMPLETED application in PDF format from one of the OxBridge programmes.

    b. A copy of your PolyU Student ID Card.

    c. A personal statement (at a maximum of 500 words):

    - Topic: What are the qualities that make you a suitable candidate for this programme? How would the programme positively impact your future academic, personal, or career goals? 

                       *It is not necessary to include details of the official study programme offered by by the host university.

    Subsidy Application Period: 19 January 2026 (00:00 Hong Kong Time) to 12 February 2026 (23:59 Hong Kong Time)

Duration: 6 weeks

3 courses chosen from the list of over 30 courses; 1 of the 3 courses can be Independent Supervision.

(Optional) Independent supervision fee – £1,630

Accommodation:

A single-occupancy room with shared kitchen facilities and shared bathrooms, meal credit for an average of 8 meals per week at Pembroke, and 2 Formal Halls (formal dinners) are included.

Business Summer Programme or Economics Summer Programme: 29 June – 26 July 2026
(Girton will extend the programmes by one day for PolyU students. The extra day will be part of the scheduled programme specially planned for PolyU students. Therefore, the end day shown in the official website will be different from here.)

Engineering Summer Programme: 19 July – 15 August 2026

Duration: 4 weeks
Academics:

Business programme

1 course comprising three modules in business topics covering business leadership, business strategy and responsible investing.

Economics programme

1 course comprising three parts covering macroeconomics and microeconomics.

Engineering programme

1 course comprising three modules covering the jet engine, quantum technologies and nanotechnology.

Globalisation programme

1 course comprising three modules covering the economics of globalization, international relations theory and non-state actors and international order.

Accommodation:  Accommodation in a single occupancy study bedroom on the main College site, approximately two meals per day in Cambridge, a welcome tea, two Formal Dinners, and an English Afternoon Tea are included.
