Summer@OxBridge

This programme aims to encourage students to attend one of the below programmes hosted by University of Cambridge and University of Oxford.

  • All full-time PolyU undergraduate students in UGC-funded programmes, except final-year students, in any faculty/school are welcome
  • Students who have been on international student exchange programme are also eligible to apply but priority will be given to students who have not participated in international exchange programmes
  • Students who expect to receive a summer exchange offer in the same year should not apply

All programmes under 2021 Summer@OxBridge will be delivered ONLINE. No travel is required.

 

Subsidies

Eligibility

  • Min. CGPA 3.50 as of Semester 1, 2020/21.
  • Successful applicant to one of the OxBridge programmes with application confirmation issued by Cambridge or Oxford.
  • Submitted complete application for the Subsidy by deadline.

Allocation

  • Allocation of the Subsidy will be based on latest CGPA (as of Semester 1, 2020/21) and personal statement.
  • Approved Subsidy will be transferred to student's bank account as per record of Student Account Enquiry of PolyU Finance Office.
  • The Subsidy will be clawed back if student fail to complete the programme and transfer credit(s) back to PolyU.

 

  1. Apply online for one of the Summer@OxBridge virtual programmes by submitting complete application to the programme provider directly. Save a proof on COMPLETED application in PDF format.
  2. Complete the Online Application for Summer@OxBridge Subsidy.
  3. Supporting documents required:

    a. A proof on COMPLETED application in PDF format from one of the OxBridge programmes; and

    b. Copy of PolyU Student ID Card;

    Subsidy Application Deadline: 7 March 2021 (23:59 HK time)

Period: 12 July – 8 August 2021
Duration: 4 weeks
Courses:

Choose Subject Stream or the Open Stream

On the Open Stream you propose your own research project while on the Subject Stream you choose from one of the proposed topic areas and research questions.

Programme Fee:

£2,150 covering:

  • Tuition and academic support
    Tuition for an intensive individual research project in the Cambridge-style of one-on-one supervisions with an expert in your field of study.
  • 8 x 1-hour individual supervisions.
  • Comprehensive feedback on supervision assignments.
  • Assessment of the final submission and transcript.
  • 'Strategies for success in your online research' session at the start of the programme.
  • Individual academic and study support with a Director of Studies.
  • General e-resources (freely available on the internet) guide on various subjects.
  • Online social programme, welcome/farewell and networking events.
  • Student presentations showcasing outstanding research project on the programme.

Duration: 4 weeks

Business programme: 1 course comprising four modules on Business Finance, Business Leadership, Business Strategy and Responsible Investing.
Economics programme: 1 course comprising three parts on Macroeconomics, studies of Novel Prize winners, Philosophical Reflections on Democratic Capitalism.
Engineering programme: 1 course comprising three modules covering the Jet Engine, Quantum Technologies and Nanotechnology.

Programme Fee:

£1,950 covering:

  • Academic course comprising a minimum of 45 hours of contact time.
  • Access to course materials through Moodle, the University of Cambridge VLE.
  • A series of guest talks on topics of general Cambridge interest.

  • Tuition for 2 x lecture courses (lectures, seminars and tutorials)

  • Ongoing practical advice and information about the programme
  • Panel discussion, Q&A and advice on applying for post-graduate study
  • Pastoral and welfare support
  • A series of evening lectures and extra-curricular activities
