Our Vision

To be a leading platform supporting the Nation's Belt Road Initiative through leveraging our University's expertise and network for capacity building, thus fostering talent development, knowledge transfer and research development for the sustainable advancement of the Belt Road countries.

An Advisory Board led by local business leaders and PolyU senior management is being formed to advise on strategic directions and development decisions of the platform.

University Alliances

In many countries along the Silk Road, there is an urgent need for capacity development at different levels and in different disciplines in order to foster social and economic development in the region. Higher Education definitely plays an important role in the development, leading to numerous opportunities for international partnerships along the routes.

University Alliance of the Silk Road (UASR)

In May 2015, Xi’an Jiaotong University established the alliance together with PolyU with the aims to promote institutional exchanges and strategic partnerships to advance talent education, science and technology development, knowledge transfer, as well as to foster cultural exchange among partner universities along the Silk Road routes. Till now, the alliance has 151 member universities from 38 countries and regions. PolyU is the Vice President of the alliance and takes a leading role in opening up opportunities for academic and research collaborations with the Belt universities through organizing a wide range of initiatives and activities. More >>

Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities (ASTRU)

ASRTU is an organization composed of elite engineering universities of China and Russia, nowadays engaging 28 Chinese universities and 34 Russian universities. PolyU joined ASRTU in 2015 and is responsible for hosting the ASTRU Representative Office in Hong Kong and coordinating activities in Hong Kong and  Macau. Through the ASTRU network, PolyU promotes technological collaborations with the leading Russian technical universities, advancing research frontier and nurturing future talent.

China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Consortium of Universities (CPEC Consortium)

Initiated by the China Association of Higher Education and Pakistan Higher Education Commission, the CPEC Consortium was established in 2017 with more than 20 members from the leading universities from China and Pakistan. Invited to be one of the founding members, PolyU will leverage on its expertise in infrastructure, maritime logistics and tourism and help promote applied research collaboration and professional training to benefit countries surrounding the CPEC.

University Consortium of 21st Century Maritime Silk Road

The Consortium is established in October 2018, comprising more than 60 universities from 17 countries/regions. PolyU plans to forge stronger network among universities along the Maritime Silk Road through the Consortium.
