Appeal against Decisions on De-registration:

A student who wishes to appeal against the decision on de-registration should complete and submit Form AR149 “Appeal against the Decision on De-registration” and relevant documentary proof to the General Office of the programme hosting Department/School within one calendar week of the announcement of the overall results.

Appeals submitted by students will be considered by the Academic Appeals Committee (AAC) of the University, which will deliberate the appeal cases, taking into account the recommendations of the programme-hosting Department/School/Faculty/College and the Faculty/College Dean/School Board Chairman.

The decisions of the AAC are FINAL within the University. When submitting the appeal form, the appellant is responsible for providing the AAC with full details and evidence that support his/her appeal.

Appeal against Decisions on Subject Results:

A student should make his/her appeal in writing first to the Head of Department hosting the programme within One Calendar Week upon the public announcement of his/her overall examination results, i.e. the date when the overall results are announced to students via the web. The student will be informed of the result of the appeal in writing within One Calendar Week after either the announcement of the student's overall results or receipt of the letter of appeal, whichever is later.

If the student has other grounds which warrant a review of the decision of the Head of Department, he/she may then appeal in writing to the Academic Registry within One Calendar Week from the date of the Department's reply.

A student's disagreement with the marking or with the decision of a Subject Assessment Review Panel is not in itself an adequate ground for an appeal.

For details of the appeal procedures, please refer to Section 6(I), "Academic Appeals", of the Student Handbook.
