In this programme, the syllabi of subjects related to carbon auditing, the carbon footprint, GHG inventory, GHG reporting, and other topics are based primarily on the latest and most widely accepted ISO standards.

Three professional certificates for GHG management:

  • SGS Certificate of ISO 14064 Quantitation and Reporting of Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Removals at Organization Level implementation Training Course
  • SGS Certificate of ISO 14067 Quantitation and Reporting of Carbon Footprint of Products (Goods & Services) Training Course
  • SGS Certificate of Principles of and Methodologies for Carbon Neutrality

Graduates of this MSc programme meet the "academic and working experience", "training" and "examination requirements" for registration as Registered GHG Carbon auditors of the Hong Kong Institution of Certified Auditors (HKICA).

The subjects of the MSc STCN programme fall on two areas of the Minimum Core Subject Areas required by the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers (HKIE) Environmental Discipline (i.e. Sustainable Development and Energy Management and Conservation). Therefore, the programme would provide an option for applicants who lack these two areas to meet the requirements of the Environmental Discipline.

Career Prospects

Graduates of the programme have excellent job prospects, with potential careers in the areas of corporate sustainability management, ESG consultancy and green finance in the finance sector. They may hold titles such as compliance officer, sustainability manager/executive, and sustainability consultant/analyst/specialist.
