Developing a Public Health Framework for Myopia Prevention and Control in Children in Hong Kong
Synopsis
Myopia is regarded as a global pandemic which also affects a majority of the Hong Kong population. This condition incurs significant impacts on myopes’ ocular health and quality of life. At the same time, it causes a burden on the local healthcare system in the long run. In order to effectively relieve such burden, myopia has to be prevented and controlled at a young age. To date, there has not been a public health framework targeting myopia control and prevention despite the evolving myopia control methods currently available. Therefore, the aim of my study is to establish an evidence-based and preference-based public health framework to prevent and control myopia among the child population in Hong Kong, using a mixed-methods approach.
