Prof. Xie holds an interdisciplinary academic background in nursing and public health. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the School of Nursing at Tianjin Medical University and Peking Union Medical College (PUMC), respectively, and earned her PhD in Public Health from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Prior to relocating to Hong Kong, she worked in the Department of Nursing at PUMC Hospital and has been a registered nurse since 2006.

Prof. Xie has extensive experience in conducting randomized controlled trials and cohort studies. Her research interests focus on women’s health, particularly the prevention, screening, disease management, and non-pharmacological intervention of female-predominant conditions such as migraine and osteoporosis, utilizing AI algorithms and technologies. She employs complementary and alternative therapies (e.g., Tai Chi, acupuncture, and relaxation training) for migraine prophylaxis, and seeks to investigate the association between migraine and cardiocerebral health progression from a neuroimaging perspective. As Principal Investigator, she has secured over 30 research grants totaling HK$16 million from competitive funding sources such as the RGC Early Career Scheme, RGC General Research Fund, Health and Medical Research Fund, and the Chinese Medicine Development Fund. She has also contributed as a co-investigator to projects exceeding HK$30 million.

As a nursing specialist with public health training, Prof. Xie is also dedicated to health education and promotion, especially through community-driven participatory research, translating academic knowledge into practice in community settings.
