Ms Yip Siu Lai, Queenie
Proprietor and Optometrist, Queen’s Optical (Optometry Centre)

As President of The Hong Kong Association of Private Practice Optometrists, Chairman of Task Force on Mandatory CPD Scheme of the Supplementary Medical Professions Council and a member of Hospital Governing Committees under the Hospital Authority; Ms Queenie Yip has been instrumental in advocating for the professional recognition and advancement of optometrists, establishing mentorship programmes, and contributing to policy development through her leadership, such as direct referral rights and integration into primary care.

A pioneer in combating childhood myopia, Ms Yip has been promoting Children Eye Health Policy and other public health strategies, and led the implementation of mandatory continuing professional development schemes, raising standards across the profession. Her achievements are recognised locally and internationally, with leadership roles in regulatory committees and active participation in international forums.

Ms Yip has maintained a strong relationship with PolyU, serving as a Visiting Clinical Associate since 2001 and as an external member of the School Advisory Committee. She has organised major university events and established the Queenie Yip Scholarship for Overseas Student Exchange Programme, demonstrating her commitment to student development and professional excellence.
