SAGE Senior Delegation Visits COMP to Explore Collaboration Opportunities
Following a recent visit by some of our academic staff to the Hong Kong Society for the Aged (SAGE, 香港耆康老人福利會) this summer, COMP was delighted to welcome a delegation of 15 senior SAGE colleagues to our department on 26 August 2025.
During the meeting, SAGE representatives shared insights into their main activities and the evolving needs of the elderly community. They showcased some of their current IT initiatives, including an online learning platform designed for older adults and a mobile app that consolidates social welfare resources to address the most common inquiries received by elderly centres.
COMP academic and teaching staff, including Prof. Peter NG, Prof. FAN Wenqi, Dr Richard LUI, Dr Raymond PANG, Dr Jeff TANG, and Dr Walter FUNG, introduced their research and teaching interests in areas relevant to elderly care and digital inclusion. The discussion focused on how technology can be leveraged to support the well-being and engagement of older adults.
The meeting also highlighted previous collaborations between SAGE and COMP, such as student internships and Work-Integrated Education (WIE) placements. Both parties expressed enthusiasm for exploring further opportunities to work together, with the shared goal of enhancing the quality of life for the elderly through innovative IT solutions.
