Inspiring Dialogue with Turing Award Laureate Prof. John Hopcroft
On 19 December, COMP had the great honour of hosting Prof. John Hopcroft, Emeritus Professor at Cornell University and recipient of the prestigious Turing Award. Prof. CHEN Changwen, Interim Dean of FCMS & Chair Professor of Visual Computing and Prof. LI Qing, Head of COMP and Chair Professor of Data Science, warmly welcomed Prof. Hopcroft to PolyU.

During the meeting, Prof. Hopcroft engaged in meaningful discussions with COMP’s PhD students and academic staff. Students took the opportunity to seek his advice on a range of topics, including how to choose a research direction, strategies for balancing research and personal life, and approaches to academic growth.

Prof. Hopcroft generously shared his experiences and insights, inspiring all who attended. The exchange provided invaluable guidance and motivation for our students and faculty, and further enriched the academic atmosphere at COMP.
