CEE Departmental Visit – Po Chiu Catholic Secondary School (9 April)
A group of 19 students from Po Chiu Catholic Secondary School visited CEE on 9 April 2025 (Wednesday). Prof. Andy Y.F. Leung, Associate Head of CEE, started the programme by introducing the admissions information of BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering and BEng (Hons) in Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Development. Civil engineering industry updates and career prospects were shared with the students.
Following the informative session, the students joined the Tower Challenge: Engineering with Straws, Tape and Imagination where they were required to use their innovation to build a tower with only paper straws and tape. The winning team’s tower was 62cm high.
The activity was concluded with a visit to the Geology Laboratory, where the students gained a deeper understanding on rock composition and distribution through interactive demonstrations and mini games. It enhanced the students’ insights into local geology in relations to civil engineering projects and community development in the real world.
