Summary
Around 42,000 km high-speed railways are in operation in Mainland China with a maximum speed of 350 km/h. Trains which can commercially run at 400 km/h are also under development. In order to control both interior and pass-by noise, a huge amount of resource has been put into high-speed railway noise research. This lecture introduces some of the research by covering the following aspects: measurement results showing typical characteristics of high-speed railway noise; measured data-based analyses on source contribution to pass-by noise; modelling and control of high-speed rolling noise; modelling and control of high-speed of aerodynamic noise; prediction and control of the vibro-acoustic behaviour of the car-body with poro-elastic media; SEA-based prediction of train interior noise; analyses of vibration transmission in the suspension/bogie system. Issues which are important but remain challenging are also discussed.
