On 1 January 2023, PolyU held a flag-raising ceremony on campus to celebrate the New Year and wish the Nation and Hong Kong prosperity and stability. 

 

The ceremony was attended by PolyU’s Council Chairman Dr Lam Tai-fai, President Prof. Jin-Guang Teng, Deputy Council Chairman Dr Lawrence Li Kwok-chang, President Emeritus Prof. Poon Chung-kwong, Honorary Court Chairman Dr Roy Chung Chi-ping, accompanied by Council members, University Fellows, distinguished guests, staff, students and alumni, with the newly established PolyU Student Flag-Raising Team performing the ceremony.   

 

In his remarks, Dr Lam said that at the start of the New Year, Hong Kong is entering a new era of development, advancing from stability to prosperity. PolyU will render its full support to the HKSAR Government’s vision of “starting a new chapter for Hong Kong together”, and the Administration’s policy objectives on innovation and technology as well as talent. 

 

“The University will fully harness its strengths in education, research and knowledge transfer to support the development of Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area into an international innovation and technology hub, and the goal of the National 14th Five-year Plan to turn our country into a global leader in cutting-edge science and technology,” Dr Lam said.

 

Prof. Jin-Guang Teng said that to nurture the next generation of professionals and social leaders, PolyU will continue to help its students achieve their aspirations and unlock their potential, strengthen their all-round development and sense of national identity, and further enhance their research competence.
