Ir Lo Kok Keung is widely recognised as the "Hong Kong version of Detective Galileo" (港版神探伽利略) and "PolyU Galileo" (理大伽利略) for his pioneering work in forensic engineering. Since 1994, he has served as an expert witness in over 110 court cases, applying mechanical engineering principles to analyse traffic accidents and industrial incidents, thereby helping the judiciary uncover the truth and exonerating innocent victims. He is the first expert from Hong Kong accepted by Macau courts as an expert witness in criminal cases.
Ir Lo is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of multiple prestigious professional institutions. He is the first Asian recipient who honoured with ASME Outstanding Student Section Advisor Award and an awardee of PolyU President's Award for Excellent Performance – Overall Contribution (2002-2003). He holds 10 international invention patents, including the world's first automatic cable outer sheath cutting machine (US patent, 2001), urine wetness sensor, emergency brake warning light, and a mobile performance stage for the former Urban Council (1987).
Ir Lo was appointed as a member of the Appeal Board Panel under the Builders’ Lifts and Tower Working Platforms (Safety) Ordinance from October 2003 to October 2006 and he has been repeatedly appointed by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic & Vocational Qualifications as a specialist. He is currently the Independent Non-Executive Director of Ming Leung Holdings Limited, an instructor for the Macau SAR Government Transport Bureau's Traffic Accident Reconstruction Training Course, a lecturer at Airport Authority Hong Kong and HKMU Li Ka Shing Professional Education Institute, a external reviewer at Environment and Ecology Bureau, HKSAR Government, STEM Education Consultant at multiple primary/secondary schools, a consultant at Rights of Hong Kong Car Owners Association and Honorary Advisor at Hong Kong Motor Inspection.
Ir Hannah Wong has built a strong reputation in the sustainability and building services profession through hands on technical work, collaborative project delivery, and active participation in industry development. She have contributed to broader industry development by participating in the CIC Sustainable Finance Certification Scheme, which supports the growth of sustainable finance in Hong Kong’s construction sector.
She is deeply committed to leveraging her experience and expertise to benefit the wider community, having contributed to a wide range of projects across Asia. Her work includes conducting air ventilation assessments, microclimate analysis, and dynamic thermal simulations, supporting architects and clients in achieving their sustainability goals within the built environment. Notable projects she has contributed to include the Hong Kong Immigration Tower, Court Building at Causeway Bay and Singapore Project Sherlock Commercial Building.
Beyond her technical work, she is equally dedicated to nurturing future professionals. She has hosted career talks with the Hong Kong Green Building Council to inspire and guide the next generation of green-building practitioners, and she actively mentors students to make a positive impact within the PolyU community.
