Summary

Considering China's "dual carbon" goals and facing increasing climate change risks, the industrial and building sectors are facing multiple challenges in energy transition, carbon reduction, and climate adaptation. This research focuses on the co-optimization of industrial parks and building energy systems, combining energy system modeling, lifecycle assessment, big data analysis, and multi-objective optimization methods to systematically analyze the coupling mechanism between energy industry, buildings and the impact on carbon emissions, energy efficiency, economic costs, and climate resilience. The focus is on exploring the optimization configuration and coordinated operation of renewable energy, integrated energy systems, and supply-demand response technologies in industrial parks and buildings, and further considering climate adaptation needs such as extreme weather and energy supply fluctuations, to construct an energy system optimization framework that balances mitigation and adaptation goals. The research aims to reveal the mechanism of low-carbon transformation between industrial and building energy systems, propose technical paths and optimization strategies for zero carbon parks and zero carbon buildings, and provide scientific basis and decision-making support for enhancing the resilience of regional energy systems and promoting low-carbon sustainable development.

Prof. Sun Lu

Professor
School of Human Settlements and Civil Engineering, Xi'an Jiaotong University, China

Dr. Lu Sun is Professor of Xi’an Jiaotong University. He received his Ph.D degree from The University of Tokyo in 2019 and worked at National Institute for Environmental Studies, Japan and Cornell University from 2014 to 2021. His research focuses on (1) To investigate the green development pathways of energy intensity industries in developing countries. (2) To quantify the environmental impacts of urbanization and climate change to cities and solutions from circular economy practices. Lu authored more than 90 academic publications in professional journals. Lu’s research has also been covered by some international media outlets and has been cited by policy stakeholders as scientific basis for environmental policies.
