Aims and Characteristics
The recent advance in information and communication technologies (ICT) has brought people great convenience in their daily life. Information has become one of the most valuable assets to any country and any business which requires careful protection. To protect data security and privacy and safeguard against the risk of potentially devastating security attacks and misuses have thus become a vital concern to all countries and organizations. With the cross-border, open-platform, highly-interconnected nature of the cyber world, the impacts of security attacks and misuses are far-reaching and would require integral effort from all parties involved in order to effectively combat these attacks.
This Programme aims at producing graduates with basic knowledge and skills relevant to Information Security. On successful completion of the Minor in Information Security programme, students should be able to:
- Apply the fundamentals of mathematics, science and engineering to the discipline of information security
- Design and conduct experiments, as well as to evaluate the outcomes
- Identify, formulate and solve problems relevant to Information Security.

Entrance Requirement
To be eligible for a Minor, you must have a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or above at the time of application for Minor enrolment.Students interested in pursuing a Minor should submit Form AR147 via eStudent during the application period. Applications will be considered by both the Major and Minor programme offering Departments.
