Aims and Characteristics
The Minor in Internet of Things and Cybersecurity aims to enable students to manage interconnected systems under internet, and also possess the essential skills needed to properly employ cybersecurity in a real environment.
IoT is a growing technology in the industrial sphere and its systems pervade almost all industries. For example, banking and logistics industries rely heavily on their IT systems for accounting, fund management, goods tracking and transportation planning. The four pillar industries: financial services, trading and logistics, tourism, and producer and professional services, which account for 60% of total annual GDP, all have strong IoT foundations, in which the small gadgets well extend the server-based applications.
This leads to strong demand for professionals who are able to manage these systems, and who are able to oversee the integration and development of IoT-based systems and software that support the industries.
Students can complement their own discipline knowledge with an overview of the management of IoT-based systems and an awareness of cybersecurity.
