Aims and Characteristics
The Minor in Computer Science is intended to educate students in a wide range of the practical aspects of system design and development, with potential specialization in different computing technologies, including computing foundation. Computing systems pervade almost all industries, evolving gradually from simple computer systems to information and communication technology infrastructures.
Besides generic system design and development, this minor covers important areas in Computer Science, enabling students to develop their skill sets in certain concentrations, such as internet, multimedia, game and algorithm development. This knowledge will complement their in-depth knowledge in their own discipline, and for application in different industries and for graduate school planning.
Students with a Minor in Computer Science are expected to understand the design and development processes and models for various computing platforms, and be able to design and develop solutions for evolving computing systems with their applications. Students can choose to focus in some of the aspects, for instance, system development, computing technologies, and algorithm design.
