Biography

Prof. Songlin Xu received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California San Diego in 2026 and his B.E. in Automation from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2020. Prior to his doctoral studies, he conducted research at Cornell University, Dartmouth College, and Carnegie Mellon University. He also completed applied scientist internships at Amazon, where he worked on large language models and human-in-the-loop chatbot design.

Prof. Xu’s research has produced systems deployed in real-world settings, including CogTeach, a large-scale online education platform evaluated with more than 700 students, and MiniHuman, an open-source Python library for simulating human behavior with large language models that has been downloaded over 20,000 times. His work has appeared in premier venues such as the ACM CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI), International Conference on Machine Learning (ICML), Network and Distributed System Security Symposium (NDSS), Proceedings of the ACM on Interactive, Mobile, Wearable and Ubiquitous Technologies (IMWUT), and the ACM Symposium on User Interface Software and Technology (UIST).
