Academic Staff

Dr. Yu Shen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computing at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He received his PhD in Cyber Security from the University of Edinburgh in 2025, his MS in Computer Science from Texas A&M University in 2021, and his BS from Jilin University in 2019.

Dr. Shen’s research lies at the intersection of cryptography and distributed computing, with a particular focus on their applications to blockchain and decentralized finance (DeFi) systems. His research interests include permissionless consensus, clock synchronization, transaction order fairness, and the mitigation of front-running attacks in DeFi platforms. His work has been published in leading international cryptography conferences, including CRYPTO, EUROCRYPT, and ASIACRYPT.
