Academic Staff

Prof. Haotong Qin received his BEng degree in 2019 and PhD degree in 2023 from Beihang University. He was a Visiting Researcher at ETH Zürich from 2022 to 2023, and subsequently a Postdoctoral Researcher at ETH Zürich from 2024 before joining PolyU.

His research focuses on AI efficiency, with particular interests in model compression, efficient architectures and inference, and hardware-aware deployment. His work has been published in leading AI/ML and computer vision venues, including IEEE TPAMI, IJCV, ICML, NeurIPS, ICLR, and CVPR, and has been featured in international media such as IEEE Spectrum. He was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list in 2026, selected as an MLCommons/Meta Rising Star in ML and Systems in 2025, and included in the Stanford/Elsevier World's Top 2% Scientists list in 2025. He has also served as an Area Chair for major conferences, including NeurIPS, CVPR, ECCV, and ACM Multimedia.
