Teaching Staff

Dr Richard Lui is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computing at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He received the Faculty Award in Teaching (Outstanding Award – Individual) in 2016, the Faculty Award in Teaching (Outstanding Award – Team) in 2022, and the Faculty Award in Teaching (Merit Award – Team) in 2023 at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He has extensive experience in adopting innovative pedagogies and developing educational platforms. Dr. Lui has led multiple UGC-funded projects at the small-scale, cross-departmental, and institutional levels on the development of innovative learning pedagogies, game-based learning, a cloud-based virtual laboratory platform for software engineering and data analytics education, and GenAI-powered intelligent tutoring systems. His projects were shortlisted as finalists at QS Reimagine Education 2024 and received the Silver Award in the “AI in Education” category at the QS Reimagine Education Awards 2025.
