Congratulations to Miss Jue ZHAO on receiving the ‘Excellent Presentation Award’ at NCEC 2019

Miss Jue Zhao, a PhD student supervised by Prof. Xiang-dong LI (Chair Professor of CEE), received the ‘Excellent Presentation Award’ at the 10th National Conference in Environmental Chemistry held in Tianjin, China during 15-19 August 2019. The title of Miss Zhao’s winning presentation was ‘Natural and anthropogenic drives of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) from a Tibetan perspective’.

Orientation Programme 2019 - Welcome CEE freshmen !

CEE extended its warmest welcome to over 223 freshmen participating in the Orientation Programme on 27 August 2019. Prof. C.S. Poon, Head of CEE, kicked off the event by introducing the department, its facilities and recent achievements. Representatives from Health, Safety and Environment Office, Office of General University Requirements, Centre of Student Advancement and Resources, and University Health Service also highlighted their services to help students adapt to university life. Visit from College of Civil Engineering, Tongji University

Prof. Huanjun JIANG, Vice Dean, College of Civil Engineering, Tongji University led a group of 30 students to visit our Department on 5 August 2019. Dr Zhenyu Yin, Associate Professor of CEE, gave a presentation to introduce PolyU, CEE and some research advances in civil engineering. Visits to Concrete Materials Laboratory, Hydraulics Laboratory and Transport and Highway Engineering Laboratory were arranged for the visitors.

Best Paper Award

A paper titled ‘Factors affecting the severity of rear-end conflicts: A driving simulator study’ authored by Miss Tiantian Chen (PhD candidate, CEE) was awarded the Best Paper Award in the 5th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (14-17 July 2019) in Liverpool, United Kingdom.
