On 9 November 2019, CEE hosted a successful competition, namely Junior Earth Savers on Water & Air Purification, for secondary school students. There were 23 participants in the event.

 

Dr Ben Leu, Associate Professor of CEE, started the programme by giving an introduction to water issues in both Hong Kong and the world, and the possible solutions.

 

The first part of the competition was about clean water with emphasis on nano-technology, advanced oxidation, and adsorption, whereas the second part of it was about air cleaning and odor control.

 

The programme was enriched by a talk on air problem and an introduction to CEE academic programmes given by Prof. S.C. Lee, Professor and Associate Head (Partnership).

 

Participants were given opportunities to visit Water and Waste Laboratory Odour Research Laboratory, and Advanced Environmental Microbiology Laboratories.
