Biography
Dr Ben YU is currently a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Social Sciences at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Before joining PolyU, he obtained his PhD in Psychology at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Ben's research primarily focuses on three areas. First, he delves into the (re)conceptualization of certain Buddhist psychological constructs, such as mindfulness and interconnectedness, and their interrelations. Secondly, he examines the mechanisms of stigma and their effects on socially disadvantaged groups, with a particular emphasis on mental illness stigma. Thirdly, he investigates the applications of Buddhist psychological constructs in stigma reduction and well-being promotion. Additionally, Ben is currently exploring ways to facilitate positive intergroup relations and reduce stigma through a cultural psychology lens.
