Biography

Dr Shuting Huo obtained her PhD degree in special education at The University of British Columbia. Before joining PolyU, she was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Psychology at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Dr Huo seeks to answer the question why children differ in the fundamental academic skills, i.e., word reading, arithmetic, and second language literacy (English). She specializes in quantitative approaches and cognitive-linguistic assessment. Her recent work utilizes the neuroimaging method, EEG, to investigate the neurological mechanisms underlying the academic foundations in children.

Dr Huo’s work appeared in renowned international journals, including Journal of Educational Psychology, Journal of Learning Disabilities, and Early Childhood Research Quarterly.
