Biography

Dr Joanne LO is a registered social worker and Lecturer in the Department of Applied Social Sciences. With over 15 years of teaching experience in different Universities, she is passionate about practice teaching in social work. Guided by the SSLD approach, she develops student-oriented (N3C) teaching pedagogy that focuses on the student’s potential. As an experienced social worker, she has expertise in working with children and youth (especially SEN and internet addiction). She is also interested in inter-professional collaboration in school social work. In addition, she also has rich experience in working in disastrous areas in Mainland China to develop the social work profession. She also shows a wide range of interest in applying creative art and horticultural therapy in social work intervention. Realising the significance of integrating theory and practice, she focuses on practice-based research which aims to contribute to developing the social work field.
