Dr Xinxin CAI

Research Assistant Professor

蔡昕昕博士

Biography

Dr CAI is a member of the Research Centre for Gerontology and Family Studies. Her research explores the interdisciplinary intersections of mental health, access to care, and ageing from family and lifecourse perspectives, using quantitative, qualitative, and mixedmethod approaches. Her primary focus is on access to mental healthcare, including older adults’ selfefficacy in navigating care systems, family dynamics in shared decisionmaking, and broader inequalities across multiple dimensions of access. She also applies intergenerational approaches to strengthening the ageing workforce, including capacitybuilding for older volunteers and reducing ageism among adolescents. Furthermore, she investigates latelife mental health from a lifecourse perspective, examining how early socioenvironmental determinants shape mental health and wellbeing in later life.
