Biography
Dr CAI is a member of the Research Centre for Gerontology and Family Studies. Her research explores the interdisciplinary intersections of mental health, access to care, and ageing from family and life‑course perspectives, using quantitative, qualitative, and mixed‑method approaches. Her primary focus is on access to mental healthcare, including older adults’ self‑efficacy in navigating care systems, family dynamics in shared decision‑making, and broader inequalities across multiple dimensions of access. She also applies intergenerational approaches to strengthening the ageing workforce, including capacity‑building for older volunteers and reducing ageism among adolescents. Furthermore, she investigates late‑life mental health from a life‑course perspective, examining how early socio‑environmental determinants shape mental health and wellbeing in later life.
