Alumni Connect – Tsim Sha Tsui

The “Alumni Connect” series was launched with its inaugural gathering in Tsim Sha Tsui on 29 April 2026. Alumni from diverse backgrounds came together for an enjoyable lunch, where lively conversations and renewed connections flourished in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. During the event, Ms Yvonne Li, Director of Alumni Affairs, shared the University’s ongoing efforts to enhance alumni engagement. She highlighted the importance of fostering lifelong connections between alumni and PolyU, and encouraged graduates to stay connected and actively participate in alumni initiatives and activities. The gathering also featured a sharing session by Dr Darron Sun, President of the Federation of PolyU Alumni Associations (FHKPUAA). He outlined FHKPUAA’s role in uniting PolyU alumni and introduced its new membership structure, reflecting its commitment to building a stronger and more connected alumni network. 【Alumni Interest Clubs】Raman Hui Encounter: Stories Behind Monster Hunt

The Alumni Photography and Films Club and the Alumni Performing Arts Appreciation Club hosted the “Raman Hui Encounter: Stories Behind Monster Hunt” event on 16 April 2026. Mr Raman Hui, an internationally acclaimed animation master and film director, is also a PolyU University Fellow, Outstanding Alumnus, and this year’s Artist-in-Residence. He returned to his alma mater to share his creative journey with the alumni community, from Hollywood classics such as Shrek and Kung Fu Panda to Monster Hunt. Mr Hui is currently presenting his solo exhibition, “Imagination in Life: Exploring the Art of Animation”, on the PolyU campus. Alumni not only enjoyed the opportunity to meet and take photos with “The Father of Shrek”, but also joined a VIP tour of the exhibition led by Mr Hui himself. During the tour, he discussed with participants how he integrates Eastern storytelling with Western animation techniques. Alumni also attended the “Monster Hunt Film Screening and Pre-Screening Sharing” alongside the wider PolyU community, where Mr Hui reflected on the filmmaking process and shared behind‑the‑scenes stories of his box-office record-breaking Monster Hunt, before the audience revisited the classic on the big screen with his personal reflections in mind. Centred on this pioneering figure in global animation, the evening provided a platform for alumni interested in film, creativity, and visual art to connect and exchange ideas. Ambassadors Reunion @ PolyU Homecoming 2026

More than 50 ambassadors and outstanding alumni from various disciplines and graduating classes gathered at the Alumni Atrium on 12 April 2026 for the “Ambassadors Reunion”, held as part of PolyU Homecoming 2026. Organised especially for Class Ambassadors and former Student Ambassadors, the event also welcomed mentors and mentees from the University’s ASPIRE Mentorship Programme, creating a vibrant occasion for cross-generational connection and exchange. The programme began with an inspiring sharing by Ms Zelia Wong, professional emcee and Outstanding Young Alumna of the Faculty of Humanities. Drawing on her personal career journey, Zelia spoke about how she transformed her academic training into a professional emceeing career, serving multinational corporations and non-governmental organisations while remaining actively engaged in cultural arts, social services and initiatives that support PolyU’s development. In appreciation of her meaningful sharing, Ms Yvonne Li, Director of Alumni Affairs of PolyU, presented a souvenir to Zelia on behalf of the University. Outstanding alumni, who have been serving as mentors in PolyU ASPIRE Mentorship Programme, took part in the lucky draw and presented PolyU souvenirs to the ambassadors, while prize winners shared their cherished moments from university days. The grand prize was presented by Ir Prof. Alfred Sit, Deputy President of Outstanding PolyU Alumni Association. The event concluded with a lively networking session, where ambassadors, alumni leaders, mentors and mentees enjoyed meaningful conversations and renewed connections. Many participants also stayed on campus afterwards for the other Homecoming activities, making the reunion a memorable highlight of the day.

PolyU Homecoming 2026: AI.Art

On 12 April 2026, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) held its annual flagship alumni event, under the banner “PolyU Homecoming 2026: AI.Art”. PolyU Council Chairman Dr LAM Tai-fai and President Prof. Jin-Guang TENG, joined by members of the PolyU Council, members of the University’s senior management team, deans, and representatives from various faculties and schools, as well as the presidents of the Federation of PolyU Alumni Associations and the Outstanding PolyU Alumni Association, kicked off the event. This year’s event, themed “Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Art”, featured a series of engaging activities that blended AI with the arts, including InnoTech Campus Adventures, Alumni Creative Market, AI x Craft Workshops and the AI Calligraphy Competition. The event attracted over 6,000 alumni, together with their families and friends, as well as staff and students from the PolyU community, who gathered on campus to celebrate their alma mater’s remarkable progress. In his address, Prof. Jin-Guang Teng said, “Over 89 years of development, PolyU has secured a position in the top 100 of the three major global university rankings, achieving 54th place in the QS World University Rankings and making steady progress towards the global top 50. This achievement has been made possible by the tireless dedication of our staff and students, as well as the unwavering support of our alumni. PolyU has nurtured over 500,000 graduates and has an alumni network spanning the globe. As PolyU approaches its 90th anniversary, I sincerely hope that you will all continue to stand alongside your alma mater, remain closely connected and support the University’s various endeavours.” PolyU Homecoming 2026 featured a rich and diverse programme. One of the highlights was the InnoTech Campus Adventures, which was jointly organised by over 40 faculties, schools and departments. Through innovative booths and guided campus tours, it showcased a range of innovative PolyU research achievements, including the Portable AI Retinal Fundus Camera, the world’s first lightweight intelligent assessment system for fatty liver detection and the radiation-free 3D ultrasound imaging system for scoliosis assessment. Alumni also had the opportunity to visit campus landmarks such as the University Gallery, the University Library and the Industrial Centre, rekindling fond memories of their student days as they strolled around the campus. Meanwhile, the Alumni Creative Market, AI x Craft Workshops and live music performances brought together more than 20 alumni, who showcased their talents through a variety of cultural and creative activities, including galvanised iron product making, blown sugar art and patterned band weaving, which are items of Hong Kong’s intangible cultural heritage. These activities offered participants unique and engaging experiences, demonstrating some of the diverse and rich talents of PolyU alumni. This year’s Homecoming also featured several competitions, including the PolyU Campus Architecture Photo Contest, the AI Calligraphy Competition and a puzzle hunt game, creating a lively atmosphere on the day. The highlight of the day was the friendly futsal match. In addition to matches between local alumni associations and the Alumni Football Club, Dr Lam Tai-fai led the Fei Yang Alumni Team in matches against the PolyU Pearl River Delta Alumni Network Team and the winning team in a grand finale, bringing the event to its climax. PolyU Homecoming 2026 garnered widespread support from across the University community. In addition to faculties, schools and departments, the event saw active participation from alumni bodies including the Federation of PolyU Alumni Associations, the Outstanding PolyU Alumni Association, local alumni associations, Mainland alumni networks, overseas associations and alumni interest clubs. Nearly 200 students and alumni volunteered during the event, demonstrating the unity of the PolyU community in supporting the University’s ongoing pursuit of excellence. 【Alumni Tea Appreciation Club】 Tea Senses & Serenity・ A Herbal Healing Experience

The Alumni Tea Appreciation Club hosted the “Tea Senses & Serenity・A Herbal Healing Experience” workshop on 21 March 2026 at White Gourd in Tai Mei Tuk, Tai Po. Participating alumni immersed themselves in the serene ambiance of the teahouse, gaining deeper insights into the art of tea appreciation. During the session, participants learned essential brewing techniques, tips for selecting quality tea leaves, and how to pair different teas with various moods and personal needs. They also engaged their five senses in exploring herbal elements and crafted their own mugwort herbal massage balls to take home, extending the soothing experience beyond the workshop. It was an afternoon filled with learning, relaxation, and meaningful connection. Wellness Thursday: Spring Regimen Essentials

Co‑organised by the Alumni Affairs Office and the Former Staff Network (FSN), the lunchtime talk “Wellness Thursday: Spring Regimen Essentials” was held on 19 March 2026. The event featured Dr Chan Miu‑ha, a registered Chinese Medicine Practitioner in Hong Kong, who shared practical, easy-to-follow tips for spring wellness. About 200 participants, including alumni, current and former staff, attended in person and online. They learned key approaches to seasonal well-being, such as adjusting daily habits, relieving stress, and supporting physical and emotional balance. Dr Chan also led simple stretching and massage demonstrations to help participants relax and revitalise in spring. This lunchtime talk fostered interaction and mutual support among FSN members. FSN warmly invites former PolyU staff to join its community, stay connected with the University, and take part in future programmes.

Class Ambassadors Connect 2026

On 18 March 2026, more than 130 graduating students gathered at the Alumni Atrium for “Class Ambassadors Connect 2026”. The event marked the official appointment of the latest cohort of Class Ambassadors, who came together to build relationships, exchange perspectives, and prepare to take an active role in the PolyU alumni community. The programme began with a presentation by Ms Wanze Li, Assistant Director of the Alumni Affairs Office. She introduced the Class Ambassador Scheme and encouraged the final-year students to stay closely connected with their alma mater after graduation. She also invited them to inspire their peers to participate in alumni activities and to help strengthen the PolyU network beyond campus. A highlight of the event was a sharing session by two Class Ambassadors appointed in previous years. They spoke about the personal and professional benefits they gained from serving in the role, and offered practical tips on maintaining strong ties with classmates while staying engaged with the University. Their stories gave the graduating class valuable insights into the importance of sustaining lifelong links with PolyU.  The atmosphere was further enlivened by a lucky draw, during which PolyU souvenirs were presented to the ambassadors by Ms Yvonne Li, Director of Alumni Affairs; Dr Darron Sun, President of the Federation of PolyU Alumni Associations (FHKPUAA); along with FHKPUAA officers, alumni leaders, and representatives from PolyU offices.  The networking session that followed was particularly engaging, featuring lively conversations and exchanges of ideas among the new ambassadors, alumni leaders from different disciplines, and University representatives. Many participants stayed on after the formal programme to continue their discussions and explore ways to deepen engagement with PolyU and fellow graduates. This year, over 300 final-year students from PolyU’s faculties, schools, departments, and the College of Professional and Continuing Education have been nominated as Class Ambassadors. 【Alumni Running and Jogging Club】“Stride into the Year of the Horse” Run

To celebrate the arrival of the Lunar New Year, the Alumni Running and Jogging Club organised the “Stride into the Year of the Horse” Run on the morning of 28 February 2026. The event brought together 40 energetic alumni for a unique team challenge along the scenic waterfront of the East Coast Boardwalk in North Point. Undeterred by the drizzle, participating alumni arrived promptly in their running gear and attended a briefing led by Mr Guohui Chen and Prof. Vincent Leung, Core Members of the Club. They then formed teams on site and ran together to complete a total distance of 20.26 km along the boardwalk, symbolising a fresh start to 2026.  All teams accomplished their mission and received souvenirs to mark the occasion. More than just a run, the event embodied unity, strength, and the PolyU spirit, setting a positive tone for the Year of the Horse.
