Design, creativity and everyday life are intricately interwoven. Last weekend, over 40 alumni from various disciplines experienced the glamour of design at PolyU by joining the “85A Alumni Tourcation”, which shone the spotlight on PolyU Design Show 2022. The event was jointly organised by the Alumni Affairs Office (AAO) and the School of Design Alumni Association (SDAA), and supported by the Federation of PolyU Alumni Associations (FHKPUAA) and the School of Design (SD).
Two tours were held on 19 August afternoon and 20 August morning respectively. Ms Wanze Li, Section Head (Alumni Affairs and Associations) of AAO, and Mr Samuel Yau, Chairman of SDAA, first gave a warm welcome to participants at the Alumni Atrium. After that, the group set off for the new landmark on campus – PolyU Main Entrance. They took photos excitedly, and then continued to tour round Stephen Cheong Kam Chuen Memorial Plaza, Chan Sui Kau & Chan Lam Moon Chun Square, and finally arrived at the Jockey Club Innovation Tower, where the PolyU Design Show 2022 took place. Student docents unveiled the design concepts behind the diverse projects done by undergraduate and postgraduate students of the School of Design; the alumni were amazed by the great creativity of their works. As PolyU members of different generations, the students and alumni also shared with each other their own interesting university stories.
This “85A Alumni Tourcation” continued to attract an overwhelming response. All participants highly recommended the tour, and were eager to join the next event.
Under the theme “We Are PolyU • Together We Excel”, PolyU 85th Anniversary celebrations place emphasis on the homecoming of alumni. Apart from exploring various favourite campus spots and iconic buildings, the campus tours will also feature the University’s latest development, as well as different PolyU blocks and teaching facilities – definitely an excellent opportunity for you to rediscover your alma mater!
