Four PolyU sustainability-related innovations are among the 10 Gold Medals with Congratulations of the Jury that the University secured at the 50th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva (Geneva Inventions Expo), held in Geneva, Switzerland, in April 2025.

Details of the awards are as follows:

PolyU received a total of 36 accolades at this year’s exhibition. Among them, two were developed by the Centre for Eye and Vision Research, a partnership between PolyU and the University of Waterloo. Two projects co-developed with MTR Corporation and the Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel, respectively, were also granted awards at the exhibition. The 2025 expo attracted over 1,000 entries from nearly 40 countries and regions.

The Geneva Inventions Expo is a widely recognised annual event devoted exclusively to invention. The exhibition was founded in 1972. Palexpo SA has assumed the responsibility for organising the exhibition since 2017.
