To improve system security and performance, business administrative applications holding sensitive personal information will require a VPN connection if accessed from outside campus. Canvas workshops for staff and students in May

The Canvas workshop for students will cover the Canvas mobile app, student navigation within course materials, how to check instructor communication through announcements and assignment due dates on the calendar, how to submit assignments, how to find grades, as well as how to utilize discussions to learn from classmates.

Online briefing sessions on Cyber Security Awareness will be held in May and June 2026.

PolyU GenAI App updates on 1 May 2026

On 1 May 2026, the PolyU GenAI app introduced major model updates, adding GPT-5.4-mini and Kimi-K2.5, while replacing Qwen3-Max with Qwen3.6-Plus. These updates bring stronger reasoning, coding, multimodal, and agentic capabilities, alongside flexible thinking modes and updated credit consumption rates for users.

GenAI App Deep Research tool updates

Starting from 1 May 2026, Internet Search queries will no longer consume user credits. Consequently, the overall credit consumption for a complete Deep Research process will be significantly reduced.

Virtual Assistant for instructor and student

The Virtual Assistant for Instructor and the Virtual Assistant for Student are built using an agentic workflow, with relevant Canvas LMS instructor and student information pre-embedded into their respective vector stores, including metadata to improve search accuracy and speed.
