Associate Professor

Brief sketch

Dr. Xu Min is an Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She received bachelor’s degrees in Hydraulic Engineering and Economics (double degree) from Tsinghua University and Ph.D. degree from National University of Singapore. Dr. Xu’s research focuses on using operations research and data-driven analytics—including machine learning and deep learning—for intelligent decision-making, human–agent interaction, game-theoretic policy learning, and predictive modeling in complex systems such as infrastructure, logistics, and transportation. Her recent work covers optimal design and operation strategies for connected and autonomous vehicles and electric vehicles and data driven prediction and optimization of traffic and logistics operations. She is also interested in extending these methodological tools to wider engineering applications such as healthcare logistics, maritime and construction operations, and other cyber–physical systems that require integrated prediction and optimization. Dr. Xu has published over 100 papers, with some appearing in leading journals, including Transportation Science, Transportation Research Parts B, C, D and E, Reliability Engineering & System Safety, Information Fusion, and Computers & Operations Research. She has been the principal investigator of projects funded by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. She currently serves as Associate Editor for Transportation Science and Transportation Research Part D, and as Editorial Board Editor for Transportation Research Parts C and E.
