Mr CHEN Chun Hei (Harry), who is a graduate student of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE), received 2nd Runner Up Award in the “HKIE – MI Student Project Competition 2018-19”, a competition organized by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) – Manufacturing & Industrial (MI) Division.

Harry, who graduated from BSc (Hons) in Logistics Engineering with Management (LEM) programme in 2019, won the award with his final year project titled “An Evolutionary Knowledge Management System for Assessing Needs of Long-term Care Plan 2.0”, which was supervised by Dr KL Choy.

The Long -term Care Plan 2.0 is suggested by Taiwan Government to reduce the pressure of public healthcare system with aging population. The project made use of the case-based reasoning (CBR) approach and k-means clustering for care plan formulation with referencing high quality past cases. The proposed system was constructed into a web-bases system. It was validated through the case study in local health consultancy company, and thus the work is deemed to be feasible and practical for the industrial uses.

Congratulations again to the winner and we are very proud of our student for the excellent project work and performance.
