Robotic and Automated Pick & Pack System

HKTVmall is Hong Kong's largest 24-hour online shopping mall, providing an "one-stop shop" platform to people in Hong Kong, including entertainment, online shopping, delivery service and impressive customer experience, with over 320,000 local and global products.

HKTVmall's Robotic and Automated Pick & Pack System automates picking and packing with capacity of thousands of orders daily.  The Cross-belt Sorter System processes over 13,000 items per hour over a wide range of products with up to 99% accuracy.  The Automatic Guided Vehicle (AGV) System transports goods autonomously within the warehouse reduces manual labor and optimizing workflow.

On October 8, 2025, PolyU MILESAA and IET MIES Section had a jointed event visiting HKTVmall Robotic and Automatic Pick and Pack System.  There were 11 participants from PolyU MILESAA and 8 participants from IET MIES section.  The journey started with security check before entering HKTVmall.  The group was led to a hall where a presentation regarding HKTVmall's 3 core pillars (full marketplace services, largest HK residential distribution network and automatic robotic systems) were delivered.

There are 3 compartments in each lorry for deliveries, therefore capable of carrying frozen, fresh and normal temperature items at the same time.  The frozen food compartment carries food at -18C, and the fresh food compartment carries food at 4C.  Customers can have frozen, fresh and normal temperature goods received in the same delivery.

The group visited the automatic pick and pack system and its operation.  Workers were directed by the automation system with indication of quantity and signaling indicators for picking and packing.  When an order was completed, it would pass through a weight measuring machine.  Further manual inspection will follow if a discrepancy exceeding 10gm was detected to ensure the correct materials were packed.  On top of this, there was another 10% sampling audit check to make sure the packed containers match customers' orders.

After the tour, there was another Q&A section before the visit ended with souvenir presentation and group photo.
