About the Award
The Outstanding PolyU Alumni Award (OPAA) aims to recognize distinguished graduates of PolyU for their remarkable achievements, dedicated support to their alma mater, and impactful contributions to the wider community. The OPAA is organized at three levels: Department, Faculty/School, and University. Recipients of the Department Award will be nominated for the Faculty Award, and Faculty awardees will be considered for the University Award.
Selection Criteria
The Department Award selection is based on two major criteria:
- Support and Contribution to PolyU
This key criterion considers nominee’s support and contributions to PolyU, including his/her leadership and/or support in University event and/or alumni activities, support in advisory committee, teaching, research, or student development, as well as support rendered to PolyU initiatives including financial / in-kind donation, or sponsorship.
- Achievement Areas
Achievements are assessed under three categories:
- Professional Achievement
Recognises alumni who have attained distinguished achievements, demonstrated exemplary leadership, and made a strong impact on their profession / industry / society.
- Entrepreneurial Achievement
Recognises alumni who have demonstrated outstanding innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as founded or advanced business or technology ventures with impact.
- Scholarly Achievement
Recognises alumni scholars who have made notable scholarly or research contributions in their disciplines, with proven track record and excellent reputation in the field.
Note: Alumni aged 40 or below in the award year are eligible for the Outstanding Young Alumni Award.
Eligibility
Nominees must be graduates who have successfully completed a full-time or part-time programme offered by PolyU (or its forerunners: Hong Kong Government Trade School, Hong Kong Technical College, and Hong Kong Polytechnic) which led to academic award accredited by the respective Institution.
Proposers can be PolyU graduates, Honorary Graduates, University Fellows, PolyU staff, PolyU Council and Court members and Advisory Committee members. There is no limit to the number of nominations to be submitted by each proposer. However, the proposer cannot be the candidate himself / herself.
Nomination and Selection Schedule
- Nomination Deadline: Please download the Nomination Form [here] and return the completed form, together with all required supplementary documents, to mylene-yu-yee.ho@polyu.edu.hk by 26 April 2026.
- Selection Process: The Department Award selection will be conducted in May 2026.
- Result Announcement: Award results will be announced in June 2026.
Panel of Judges
A panel of judges, comprising both internal and external members, will be formed to examine the nominations and assess candidates’ qualifications and performance for the awards.
Confidentiality
All information submitted on this nomination form will be kept strictly confidential and will only be used by the Award Selection Committee for the purpose of the selection process.
