Fire Drill at Block Y – Key Evacuation Tips
We - Share
To strengthen campus emergency preparedness, a fire drill was conducted at the Lee Shau Kee Building (Block Y) on 28 May 2026, organized by CFSO. The exercise aimed to reinforce proper evacuation procedures for staff and students and enhance overall readiness in the event of a fire emergency. HSO monitored the evacuation process to identify opportunities for further improvement.
Following the drill, a short video has been produced to highlight key evacuation tips and clearly illustrate the designated escape routes in Block Y. This visual guide is designed to help members of the campus community better understand what to do and where to go during an emergency.
We encourage everyone to watch the video and familiarize themselves with the evacuation procedures — being prepared can make all the difference in ensuring a safe and orderly evacuation.

Key Evacuation Safety Tips
During an emergency, staying calm and following proper evacuation procedures can save lives. Please keep the following essential tips in mind:
- Use Designated Staircases
Follow the green EXIT signs and use the protected staircases designed for fire safety.
- Follow the Marked Escape Route
Stay on the designated evacuation path at all times. The green EXIT signs are strategically placed to lead you efficiently and safely out of the building.
- Proceed Directly to the Ground Level
Do not stop or turn back during evacuation. Continue moving down the staircases until you reach the ground floor, then exit the building promptly and proceed to a safe area.
Building a Safer Campus Together
By staying prepared and vigilant, we can strengthen our collective emergency readiness and create a safer, healthier campus environment for everyone.
Let us continue to look out for one another and work together to keep the PolyU community safe, resilient, and well-prepared.
