- BSc (Hons) in Physics with a Secondary Major in Artificial Intelligence & Data Analytics (AIDA), Department of Applied Physics
The Department of Applied Physics at PolyU has an excellent academic atmosphere. I undertook a two-year research project (URIS) under the guidance of Prof. Yang Ming. Through this project, I not only learned Density Functional Theory (DFT) and how to use computational software, but also realized that inspiration is crucial in research. I also participated in an exchange programme at the University of Science and Technology of China. During this period, I conducted a project on the electro-optic effect in crystals and subsequently took part in the National Undergraduate Physics Experiment Competition.
Additionally, the department’s flexible curriculum allowed me more time to enrich my university life. In my spare time, I often went hiking, which helped me stay active while appreciating the beautiful scenery of Hong Kong. In Year 2, I went to Kyoto University in Japan for a semester-long exchange. During this time, I met outstanding peers from Kyoto University and around the world, which broadened my horizons both academically and personally.
