
Ten members of PolyU Business School (PBS) are listed among the world’s top 100,000 scientists by citation count (with and without self-citations), or a percentile rank of 2% or above in their respective disciplines. Of these, eight are current PBS faculty members from the Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies and the Department of Management and Marketing. Ir Prof. T.C. Edwin Cheng, Prof. Eric W.T. Ngai, Prof. Michael Harris Bond, Prof. Kee-hung Mike Lai, and Prof. Shuaian Hans Wang have been recognised as the world’s top 2% most-cited scientists for six consecutive years. Tracking millions of scientists worldwide, the study has identified about 230,300 scientists across 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields, including 259 academics from PolyU.
The database contains the career-long data based on the 1 August 2025 snapshot from Scopus, updated to reflect citations up to the end of 2024.

Dr Anson Wong, Senior Lecturer in the School of Accounting and Finance, has been honoured as the Regional Champion (North Asia) in the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) Teaching Award under the Accounting Educator Awards 2025.
Jointly presented by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, the CGMA Accounting Educator Award is among the most respected and influential distinctions in global accounting education. This year's award attracted 532 applications and nominations from around the world, spanning project training institutions, university partners, and individual educators from Hong Kong, Mainland China, and Macao. This breadth underscores the award’s international reach and competitive nature.
Dr Wong's achievement reflects her dedication to delivering high-quality teaching and fostering an engaging learning environment in the field of accounting and finance. She was commended for her excellence in transforming the curriculum for digital and research readiness, contributing to the School’s ongoing commitment to educational excellence.

Dr Lucas Chiang and Dr Stephen Li from the School of Accounting and Finance (AF), together with Mr Nelson Ma, an esteemed AF alumnus and external member, formed a team that won the Best Innovation Award at the PolyU x CSCEC Science and Industry International Future Challenge (Qianhai Region).
Their award-winning solution, ‘Anxiety Detection and Reduction – Melody Mind’ , leverages AI technology to address one of today’s most pressing mental health challenges. Melody Mind is designed to detect early signs of anxiety and deliver personalised, music-based therapeutic interventions. The solution was recognised for its originality, societal relevance, and strong market potential, standing out in a highly competitive field of global innovators.
The Qianhai Region Challenge, co-hosted by PolyU and China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC), invited start-ups and research teams to tackle real-world challenges in fields such as healthcare, intelligent wearables, AR/VR, intelligent construction, and the Metaverse, with a particular emphasis on AI-driven solutions.
