Technical Visit to Hong Kong International Aviation Academy

The Hong Kong International Aviation Academy (HKIAA), the first civil aviation academy in Hong Kong, is established by the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) in 2016. The Aviation Academy offers a comprehensive aviation-related curriculum to aviation professionals.

On 6 July 2026, we have a technical visit to Hong Kong International Aviation Academy (HKIAA), the event was co-organized with IET MIES section, totally thirty participants joint this event with fourteen participants from PolyU MILES Alumni Association.

We assembled at the reception with a model plane and then we entered auditorium. We had an introduction about HKIAA, its courses and the development of Hong Kong Aviation Industry.

HKIAA established in 2016, it is a subsidiary company of Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK). The campus occupies 5,500 square meters and it includes auditorium, executive lecture hall, classrooms, Internation Civil Aviation Organized (ICAO) classroom, flight simulator, aircraft tractor simulator, air traffic control simulator and aviation security training facilities. It includes five training centers:

1. Air Traffic Management
2. Airport Operations and Crisis Management
3. Aviation Security and Safety
4. Flight Training and Engineering
5. Foundation and Academic Programs

After the presentation, we joined a campus tour. Unlike traditional classroom layouts, the classrooms and training facilities are located inside windowless areas, while the main corridors are lined with windows and furnished with seats and tables for discussion. Visitors can also enjoy views of the surroundings from these corridors. We took a group photo in one of the classrooms.

At the end, we had group photos and souvenir prestation, everyone had a good experience about HKIAA. The event ended at 15:50 with 20 minutes overrun.
