Delegation Strengthens Collaboration with Industry and Academia in Hangzhou

Grand Opening of Centre for Future Technologies in Construction

Hong Kong, November 18, 2025 – The construction industry took a significant step towards innovation and sustainability as the "symposium on smart construction cum opening ceremony of Centre for Future Technologies in Construction" unfolded at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The event brought together leading academics, industry experts, and technology pioneers to discuss the integration of cutting-edge technologies in construction and foster cross-border collaboration between Shenzhen and Hong Kong.   Driving Transformation in Construction The symposium, themed "Smart Construction: Shenzhen-Hong Kong Integration and Innovative Applications," emphasized the critical transformation of the construction industry towards intelligence and sustainability. The event aligned with the nation’s 14th Five-Year Plan, which promotes the development of smart construction. With Hong Kong as a hub for construction digitization and Shenzhen as a pilot city for smart construction, the collaboration between the two regions aims to address challenges such as high energy consumption, safety risks, and inefficiencies in the construction sector.   A Collaborative Platform for Innovation The symposium was co-organized by the Shenzhen Green and Intelligent Construction Association and the Centre for Future Technologies in Construction at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Prof. Xiangdong Li, Dean of the Faculty of Construction and Environment at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, delivered the welcome address, setting the tone for high-level discussions. The event also marked the official launch of the Centre for Future Technologies in Construction and witnessed the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between the Hong Kong Smart Construction Alliance and the Shenzhen Green and Intelligent Construction Association. Keynote speakers shared insights into the latest advancements in smart construction technologies, including: Land-Link, Network Infrastructure of Smart Construction by Professor Heng Li, Chair Professor of Construction Informatics AI-Driven Concrete Quality Control Robotics by Mr. Shaojun Liu, Deputy General Manager of LETS Technology Group. Intelligent Development and Practical Applications of Tower Cranes  by Ms. Biting Chen, Oversea Account Manager of of Guangdong Tendfine Information Technology Development Co., Ltd. Unmanned Low-Altitude Inspection for Digital Construction Supervision by Mr. Hangyu Song, General Manager of Shenzhen Keehang Tech Co., Ltd. The Growth of Mainland Chinese Consulting Firms in Hong Kong by Mr. Xinghai Wu, Deputy General Manager of Shanghai Municipal Engineering Design Institute (Group) Co.,Ltd., Hong Kong Branch These sessions highlighted the potential of artificial intelligence, robotics, and IoT in revolutionizing construction practices while enhancing efficiency and safety.   Fostering Collaboration Between Shenzhen and Hong Kong The event underscored the importance of cross-border cooperation in leveraging complementary strengths. While Hong Kong offers advanced expertise in technology and construction digitization, Shenzhen’s experience with industrial applications provides a practical foundation for implementing innovations on a larger scale. Together, the two regions aim to create a robust ecosystem for smart construction, addressing global challenges and setting new benchmarks for the industry.   Looking Ahead The symposium concluded with a session for interactive communication, enabling participants to network and explore opportunities for future collaborations.
