Challenge
Confined-space construction in sewage rising main rehabilitation posed significant safety and operational challenges, including limited real-time monitoring, delayed emergency response, restricted worker access control, and inefficient permit management. These risks created difficulties in ensuring worker safety, monitoring project progress, and maintaining efficient site operations.
Solution
A customised Landlink-based 4S Solutions System was deployed to address these challenges, integrating smart watches, an electronic lock and key system, a digitized permit-to-work system, and a confined space monitoring system. Together, these technologies enabled real-time worker tracking, health monitoring, emergency response, access control, gas detection, and AI-powered safety monitoring, while centralising permit management and site monitoring through the CMP platform.
Outcome
The project significantly improved both safety performance and operational efficiency. The integrated system enhanced monitoring of unsafe behaviours, enabled health tracking for workers in confined spaces, supported management of over 1,000 workers and devices, improved permit processing efficiency, strengthened access control, and reduced safety risks through more accurate monitoring and prevention measures.
