Challenge
The Central Kowloon Route project involved extensive underground works and complex tunnel construction, creating significant challenges in maintaining reliable communication, supporting real-time monitoring technologies, and enabling seamless coordination between surface and underground operations. The successful deployment of innovative construction technologies required high-speed, stable, and dedicated network coverage across challenging site conditions, including deep excavation and underground tunnel environments.
Solution
A customized Landlink wireless network solution was deployed to establish a dedicated Wi-Fi backbone network and extend communication coverage into underground tunnels. Wireless base stations were flexibly deployed to provide full-area network coverage, highly accurate positioning, low-latency data transmission, and over 200M bandwidth to support smart construction technologies, including the Central Management Platform (CMP) and intelligent monitoring systems. The dedicated network operated independently from surrounding networks and supported reliable connectivity across both surface and underground construction environments.
Outcome
The project successfully established a stable and resilient communications infrastructure to support smart construction operations across the Central Kowloon Route project. The solution enabled seamless communication between surface and underground works, strengthened digital monitoring and site management capabilities, and provided scalable network support for multiple innovative construction technologies. By overcoming connectivity challenges in a complex tunnel environment, the project contributed to safer, smarter, and more efficient infrastructure delivery.
