Challenge
The construction site in the North East New Territories New Development Area faced significant communication challenges due to extremely weak or unavailable 4G/5G signals across the site. The lack of a high-speed, long-distance stable private network, together with the absence of a basic digital infrastructure for Industry 4.0 applications, created difficulties in managing site safety, engineering quality, and project progress efficiently, resulting in high management costs and low operational efficiency.
Solution
A customized 4S Intelligent Site Wireless Network Solution was deployed to establish reliable site-wide communication coverage. Wireless broadband IoT base stations were installed at strategic locations, including office poles and site containers, supported by external battery power and integrated with CPE devices to introduce external network access into areas without 4G/5G signals. This solution enabled WiFi coverage across the construction site and established the digital infrastructure necessary to support smart site management and data transmission.
Outcome
The project successfully delivered stable wireless connectivity and established a reliable communications backbone for smart construction operations. The WB-IoT system achieved strong and stable signal performance, enabled smooth wireless internet access for mobile devices and computers, and supported uninterrupted data, audio, and video transmission. The network now serves as a data transmission hub (One Network), supporting the development of a centralized management platform (One Platform) and an intelligent site safety management system (One System), significantly strengthening digital site management capability.
