Challenge
Tunnel construction presents significant challenges in maintaining worker safety, monitoring mobile equipment, and managing risks in confined and high-hazard environments. In this project, difficulties included limited real-time visibility of personnel and equipment, safety risks in tunnel operation zones, and inefficient coordination of permit management and hazard response, creating challenges for maintaining both operational efficiency and site safety.
Solution
A customized 4S Solutions System was deployed and integrated into the Central Management Platform (CMP) to address these challenges. The solution combined digitized tracking, digitized permit-to-work, smart monitoring devices for workers, AI-powered safety monitoring, and unsafe behavior hazard alerts in mobile plant operation areas. Together, these technologies enabled real-time monitoring of workers and equipment, automated hazard detection, centralized permit management, and intelligent safety response for tunnel construction operations.
Outcome
The project significantly improved safety management and operational efficiency. The integrated system streamlined permit processing, improved asset management efficiency, reduced hazard risks through AI-powered alerts, strengthened occupational health and worker monitoring, and enhanced daily management of personnel and site access. By combining intelligent monitoring with centralized digital management, the project contributed to a safer, smarter, and more efficient tunnel construction environment.
