BEEE Study Tour to Chongqing Sparks Learning, Discovery, and Inspiration

12 Aug 2026

From 24 to 30 July 2026, 13 undergraduate and 3 postgraduate students from the Department of Building Environment and Energy Engineering (BEEE) participated in a memorable 7-day study tour to Chongqing University in Chongqing, China. The tour was led by Prof. You Ruoyu and generously sponsored by the PRC Ten Thousand People’s Scheme (內地與港澳高等學校師生交流計劃項目,簡稱萬人計劃) of the PRC Ministry of Education (教育部) and BEEE.

The study tour provided students with a rich combination of academic learning and cultural exposure. The itinerary included an opening ceremony, campus tour and laboratory visits at Chongqing University, and visits to several landmark facilities and learning sites. Students explored the transportation system, observed a train passing through a building, attended a lecture on building fire safety and ground-source heat pump systems, and visited Ciqikou Ancient Town. They also took part in on-site learning activities related to stone carving protection and renewable energy building applications.

Throughout the tour, students gained valuable insights into Chongqing’s urban development, engineering applications, and cultural heritage. The experience also offered an excellent opportunity for academic exchange, allowing participants to broaden their perspectives and deepen their understanding of sustainable building environment and energy solutions in real-world settings.

The study tour was not only an enriching educational journey, but also a meaningful platform for fostering exchanges between students and enhancing their global outlook. It further strengthened students’ enthusiasm for learning and inspired them to apply their knowledge to future studies and professional development.
