Prof. Lin is an internationally renowned scholar whose pioneering research in machine learning, computer vision, and numerical optimisation has significantly impacted both academia and industry. His groundbreaking work on low-rank matrix models, robust principal component analysis, and image super-resolution has set new standards in the field and inspired a new generation of researchers. Prof. Lin’s academic excellence is reflected in his impressive record of more than 200 publications in top-tier journals, over 40,000 citations, and an h-index of 87. He has played a leading role in the global research community, serving as Associate Editor for prestigious journals such as IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, and the International Journal of Computer Vision. He has also served as Area Chair for major conferences including CVPR, ICCV, NeurIPS, and ICML. His achievements have been recognised with numerous honours, including Fellowships of IEEE, IAPR, CSIG, and AAIA, as well as First Prize at the China Computer Federation Natural Science Award. Prof. Lin’s dedication, leadership, and innovative spirit exemplify the highest standards of PolyU alumni.

Ir Wong is a distinguished alumnus who has achieved notable success and demonstrated exemplary leadership in the field of IT. Serving in senior positions within the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, including previously as Government Chief Information Officer and currently as Commissioner for Digital Policy, he has played a key role in shaping the digital transformation of public services. He has spearheaded the formulation and implementation of data-driven, user-centric, and outcome-based policies that have significantly enhanced the efficiency and quality of government services for the people of Hong Kong. Ir Wong has made a lasting impact on both the IT profession and the wider community by overseeing strategies in digital government, data governance, and IT infrastructure, while strengthening cybersecurity and the oversight of government IT projects. His initiatives have supported the growth of the local digital industry, promoted widespread IT adoption across multiple sectors, and contributed to efforts to bridge the digital divide. His longstanding support for PolyU, and particularly for the Department of Computing, further reflects his commitment to the growth and success of the University.

Miss Bianca HO Yan-ting

Since graduating in 2017, Miss Ho has rapidly distinguished herself through her outstanding professional achievements. Since 2022, she has served as Director of Information Technology (Global) at Swire Hotels Group, where she leads a global IT team across multiple cities. In this senior role, she oversees daily operations and strategic initiatives, spearheading digital transformation and driving innovation to support the group’s rapid growth. Her exceptional leadership was recognised with the World CIO 200 Award, making her one of the youngest recipients of this prestigious accolade. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Miss Ho has made significant contributions to her alma mater. As Honorary Secretary of the Computing Alumni Association for the past two years, she has played a vital role in strengthening alumni engagement and supporting University initiatives. She remains committed to serving the alumni community and is primed to take on future leadership roles.

Miss LEE Ka-yi, MH

Professional Squash Athlete

Bachelor of Science in Investment Science, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (2016)

 

Miss Lee is a professional squash athlete. She began her formal training at the Hong Kong Sports Institute and turned professional in 2014. Since then, she has become one of Hong Kong’s top squash players, ranked 33rd in the PSA World Rankings and 2nd in Hong Kong as of August 2025. She has represented Hong Kong in numerous local and international competitions, achieving notable success. At the 2018 Asian Games, Miss Lee helped Hong Kong secure its first-ever Women’s Squash Team gold medal, as well as a bronze medal at the WSF Women’s World Team Championships 2018. She also claimed titles at the 2019 China International Squash Elite Competition and the 14th East Asian Squash Team Championships, and earned both silver and bronze medals at the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games in 2022. As a member of the PolyU Squash Team, she was USFHK Women’s Squash Champion from 2012 to 2016.
