PolyU and ACCA Sign MoU to Enhance Diversity and Develop NextGen Professions

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today, marking a new milestone for both organisations in achieving their shared ambitions to enhance diversity and develop talent, especially in response to the accelerating demand for accountancy expertise in the fast-growing world.

According to the MOU, the partnership ‘PolyU x ACCA NextGen Business Professional Accelerator’, offers Accounting and Finance students at PolyU an accelerated pathway to complete the ACCA Strategic Professional level exams, empowering diverse career ambitions with a globally-recognised professional qualification. This collaboration bridges academic and professional learning, enhanced by ACCA’s expert guidance and teaching resources. Together, ACCA and PolyU will work towards broadening the diversity and fostering internationalisation of PolyU’s student pool, and boosting graduate employability through tailored activities and co-designed support initiatives that strengthen connections to the profession. 

Helen Brand OBE, Chief Executive of ACCA, said, 'This partnership marks a major breakthrough for business education as well as academic and professional opportunity in this region. It is practical and innovative, integrating the ACCA Qualification’s Strategic Professional level with PolyU’s academic programmes and setting a benchmark for bridging educational and professional readiness. We look forward to offering guidance, resources and exclusive networking opportunities for the students of PolyU, preparing them to become well-rounded, future-ready professionals who will thrive in a new era shaped by AI and the hunger for sustainability.'

Prof. CAO Jiannong, Vice President (Education) of PolyU, introduced that the innovative “Accelerator” programme, which will be seamlessly integrated into two BBA curricula, will be implemented via the offering of two new elective subjects that aim at transforming promising talent into exceptional professional. He further disclosed that “Under this programme, our ambitious students will benefit from a structured and enriched study journey, supported by a series of professional workshops and exclusive networking events featuring seasoned professional accountants.
