Work-Integrated Education (WIE)
To graduate, every student must complete 100 hours (3 training credits) of WIE. The School offers opportunities for students to work in firms in Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland during either the spring semester or over the summer. These and other forms of work experience count towards the WIE requirement.

Characteristics of Scheme-based Admission

Students first follow a common curriculum under the Scheme.

This offers students approximately one year to identify their area(s) of interest and career aspirations, which facilitates their Major programme selection.

The decision to admit a student to a Major programme will be made by the School in consideration of the student’s preference and overall GPA from Year One. Students will be asked to rank their choice of Major programme (in oder of preference) during Semester 2 of Year One for the School’s consideration and approval.

The number of students admitted to the BBA (Hons) in Accountancy, BBA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance and BBA (Hons) in Digital Finance and Investment will be capped respectively at 60%, 40% and 40% of the number of students in the respective year.

Student Message

While studying at PolyU, I have been motivated to achieve academic excellence and self-development.

I have received professional education in both practical and theoretical aspects of my course through lectures, internship opportunities, competitions and workshops. Thanks to enthusiastic teachers and a well-equipped learning environment, I have been inspired to pinpoint my interests in the business field and pave my career path.

As well as offering first-class teaching, PolyU provides various opportunities for its students to attain all-round development. During an exchange programme to Denmark, I had the opportunity to broaden my horizons and expand my global vision by communicating with people from different cultures. My flexibility and adaptability were cultivated by living a lifestyle that was totally different from that in Hong Kong. My communication skills were further honed during a Service-Learning trip to Cambodia in summer 2018. Through teaching English and preparing my own teaching kit, I also developed leadership skills that will undoubtedly serve me in my future career and interpersonal relations.

FUNG Tsz Yan, Sophia

Looking back at my time at university, I would describe it as challenging yet rewarding. It was not easy to strike a balance between studying and socialising. But PolyU equips students to excel in every way.

Aside from a world-class education, PolyU has given me the opportunities and resources to explore my interests and learn proactively. Working as an assurance intern for the ‘Big 4’ accounting firms opened my eyes to how the concepts of accounting can be applied in a real-world context, and how I might use the knowledge and skills gained in my future career.

PolyU shapes students into well-rounded individuals by unleashing their potential and encouraging them to step out of their comfort zones. During my time at PolyU I participated in case competitions, volunteer services and student societies, all of which helped developed my communication, leadership and social skills.

Now, I feel well prepared for what lies ahead.

HUI Wing Tuen, Katrina

When I reflect on my four years of university study, I feel very grateful for the fantastic springboard that PolyU provided me. This is the place where I learnt, grew and made huge progress in both my academic and personal development.

Information-rich lectures, workshops and seminars equipped me with essential academic knowledge. Group projects taught me how to present my ideas clearly and confidently and how to cooperate with others. They made me realise the importance of teamwork and collaboration. The huge variety of student associations and hall activities gave me numerous opportunities to make friends with international students and expose me to the cultures of the world.

I stepped out of my comfort zone and accomplished things I didn't expect. On top of all that, PolyU enlightened me to know more about the world, not only through textbooks, but also through hands-on experiences.

TAO Shiyu, Anna

I do appreciate that our school pays significant attention and offers diversified opportunities for students to cultivate their sense of social responsibility through Service Learning and other student associations. I participated in voluntary teaching trips several times, during which I shared my knowledge and personal experiences with students in the underprivileged areas in mainland China. Applying what I have learned and contributing to the community makes me feel a strong sense of achievement, making it one of the most unforgettable experiences in my life.

Through the experiences at PolyU, I have gained all-round development, both mentally and technically, which makes me more confident to face difficulties in the future.

WU Hanxiao

During my studies at PolyU, I have always been encouraged and motivated to achieve outstanding academic performance.

PolyU and my school offer renowned resources in various aspects, including accounting, finance, marketing and leadership, which are essentially important not only for my academic improvement but also for my personal development. PolyU also provides me with different options to plan my future development. After enjoying the first-class teaching and learning resources in PolyU, I can have the opportunity to further pursue my master’s degree or start my professional career in the industry.

Apart from the academic resources, PolyU also gives a wide range of chances to me to experience and explore the real-world business practices. In 2019, I participated in a business competition held by PolyU and Dale Carnegie Training, which strongly improved my analytical skills and furnished my market insight. In the CFA Institute Research Challenge in 2021, I was selected to be one of the four members to represent PolyU to compete with students from other universities in Hong Kong and all over the world, and this experience effectively broadened my horizon and eventually helped me set my career target after graduation.
